Installation

• installing the runtime on Ubuntu

Hardware

• camera is connected via firewire
• ensure camera is recognised; check dmesg
• on my ubuntu install (6.06) the camera appears as /dev/dv1394-0 and /dev/raw1394
• there may be two devices installed, if the camera doesn't work, try the other firewire controller
• check with kino that can get images, control camera
• (from Charlie) sudo chmod a+rw /dev/raw1394
• check libavc1394-dev is installed
  • this is required for dvcont
